One thing still works...

When paracetamols fail...
And smoky cappuccino does not bring the cheer…
When the day seems too long…
And the night does not bring much sleep…
When life feels like puke, and friends don’t call…
There is one thing that still works…
Sunny Deol in Damini…

When he says ‘Yeh dhai kilo ka haath jab uthta hai na…aadmi uthta nahin…uth jata hai’
OR
‘Chaddha, is case mein tujhe bijli ka aisa jhatka lagega, ke tu jhatakna bhool jayega’ (and makes the head movement to imitate Chadhdha)
OR
Wipes the blood on his hands on a villain’s shirt (while Sunny is still slightly disoriented with alcohol)
OR
Says ‘Kanoon ki dalali se izzat ki nilami pe utar aya hai, Chaddha? Is peshey ko bhadwagiri kehtey hai.’
OR
Simply aims a puff of cigarette smoke on Chaddha’s face…
The world seems to be in good hands again…
And there is that sudden filmy sense of security…that travels straight from the TV screen to a feverish mind.

(I have never been a crazy fan of Sunny Deol…or masala flicks…or action…or thundering dialogues…or heroes with terrific stunts...or machine guns and melodramatic courtroom scenes. But watched Damini again today, after years...while sofa-ridden with mild fever. And must admit, I am thrilled…all over again.)

unlike you, i am a die hard fan of cheap flicks :D. The ghati-er, the better. i keep watching them, it brings in a sense of senselessness, which inturn makes this so called serious life worth living. Damini is a personal favourite. besides, the dialogues, on a more serious note, i think that was the last we saw if meenakshi- i thought she was so Apsara like.

And i loved the sentence- And there is that sudden filmy sense of security…that travels straight from the TV screen to a feverish mind.

have i told you, i live half my day dreaming of film stars and hope my life is as magical as movies? I am a drama queen, and love filmy stuff.

I'm youtube-ing simultaneously,as i write this, for masala hindi pitchhhhars.

That film is AWESOME ! And Sunny makes it worthwhile every now and then with those incredible lines.

Sunny Deol is the Joe Pesci of Indian cinema....

That's one movie where I think the role and him and everything else to do with his character fit in well...

Hope you got some deserved laughs watching amrish puri do some weird flips with his hair... :)

I can identify with this oh so completely...when I am home alone, missing every little thing possible, a stupid Sharukh Khan with his mandolin in the mustard fields can bring some cheer...BTW, is ur fever serious? Don't see u online at all, for almost a week now, I think...

thats a brilliant movie, even though very depressing at times! Infact on second thought the movie is quite depressing and Sunny deol is the reprieve
